Meet Angela Rivero: Reclaiming Calm, Creativity, and Connection

By Teresa Howes | Twine Featured Founder Interview

Angela Rivero is the founder of Soma Shift Embodied Evolution, where she supports women who are carrying a full life on their shoulders but feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or stuck in chronic symptoms. Angela works at the intersection of somatic awareness and nervous system regulation, helping clients reconnect with their internal resources so they can feel grounded and energized again.

“I work with women who are carrying themselves in really great ways and they’ve accomplished a lot, but they’re also kind of exhausted or they’re experiencing chronic symptoms, whether it’s like burnout or anxiety, depression.”

Her work blends deep listening, sensation tracking, and the therapeutic method of Somatic Experiencing®, where she helps clients notice what is happening in their bodies and gently unwind survival patterns that create stress or overwhelm.

“I’m also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. That’s a three-year training to help resolve stress patterns and trauma patterns in the nervous system.”

What Somatic Work Really Looks Like

Somatic Experiencing sessions with Angela are slow, intentional, and deeply human.

“A session is one-on-one. We sit and talk because that’s how we communicate as humans. But I’m also watching their posture and their nervous system, tracking it and their emotions.”

She often asks clients for permission to pause their story so she can help them track sensations in real time.

“I actually ask my clients, do I have permission to interrupt you? As they’re telling me their story, I’ll gently say, can we just pause the story for a moment. We’ll come back to it.”

Through this process, clients begin to understand their own stress patterns and experience moments of ease, space, and relief.

“You don’t have to know all the history. It naturally reveals because the body does keep the score.”

The Road to Somatic Practice

Before this this practice, Angela was a licensed esthetician in her twenties. She later stepped back to raise her children and spent eight years studying the somatic and nervous system work that would eventually shape her professional path.

Her favorite part of running her business today is the freedom it gives her to honor who she is and how she wants to live.

“I get to truly honor my personhood. I get to honor my creativity and my purpose.”

She emphasizes that freedom looks different for everyone, and her version includes spaciousness, intuition, and family alignment.

“Freedom or flexibility is unique for every individual.”

The Loneliness of Building Something New

Like many women building something from the ground up, Angela has navigated seasons without mentors or colleagues who fully understood her work. Because her work is specialized and not always easy to explain quickly, referrals can also be a challenge.

“I do really like nuanced, special work that isn’t as popular. It’s a little bit harder to get referred out because people have to understand what I do.”

Still, she continues to seek collaborations and community that feel aligned with the depth and care of her practice.

Growing Her Practice with Intention

This season, Angela is restructuring her client work to ensure that her coaching containers support real, lasting transformation.

“I’m thinking about at least a three to six month commitment. You can’t shift your life in four sessions.”

She’s also focused on growing her in-person presence after several years of virtual work.

“I still do virtual coaching. I would love to build more of my in-person clientele because I guess I love it so much.”

And she is proud of the evolution of her long-running podcast.

“I have a podcast. I’m on season six right now. Definitely at least 100 episodes.”

The show, Everyday Intimacy with Angela Rivero, continues to bring in listeners, guests, and occasional client inquiries.

“I definitely get quite a few listeners and I get super cool, interesting guests.”

What She Would Tell Her Younger Self

Reflecting on what she knows now, Angela would encourage her earlier self to anchor into community sooner.

“I would have gotten into communities and collaborations much sooner.”

She also offers a grounded reminder for anyone navigating a slow, self-led path:

“Trust yourself and stay the course.”

How You Can Benefit From Angela’s Expertise

Angela’s work is for women who are ready to understand themselves on a deeper level, explore their stress patterns, and feel more resourced in everyday life. Her somatic approach is gentle, collaborative, and rooted in nervous system safety.

“It doesn’t have to be so heavy. It can actually be really playful and light.”

She offers one-on-one sessions, multi-month nervous system support containers, and her podcast, where listeners can explore these concepts in an accessible way.
