Meet Diandra Medina: Creating space for healing, growth, and connection through holistic therapy
By Teresa Howes | Twine Featured Founder Interview
Diandra Medina is a licensed marriage and family therapist and the founder of Diandra Medina, MFT & Associates, a private group practice dedicated to helping people build better relationships—with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.
Her practice blends talk therapy with holistic approaches like yoga, breathwork, EMDR, and biofeedback—creating a space that goes deeper than coping skills.
“We’re not just trying to manage the moment, we’re trying to get to the root of it, so it doesn’t come back.”
Helping Women Prosper, Revel, and Thrive
Diandra’s work fits beautifully into Twine’s mission. When women feel confident, emotionally grounded, and connected to their needs, everything else follows—from healthier relationships to empowered career moves to clearer communication.
“It’s often the first time someone feels like what they want is truly possible,”
She reminds us: therapy isn’t just for crisis. It’s for clarity, growth, and joy.
The Dream Started Early
Unlike many entrepreneurs who find their way to business ownership later in life, Diandra knew early on she wanted to run her own practice.
“Even though I didn’t know anything about business, I just knew I worked best when I was making the decisions,”
After working with several large mental health organizations in San Diego, she launched her practice—and has grown it steadily ever since.
Freedom to Heal (and Build) Her Way
Ask Diandra her favorite part of being a business owner and she doesn’t hesitate: flexibility. Whether it’s choosing her schedule, the amount of stress she’s willing to take on, the freedom to show up fully for her clients, the ability to align her work with her values is everything.
“It took me a couple years to realize I didn’t need to feel stressed to be successful. I could be relaxed and still be doing really good work.”
Support Systems & Self-Belief
While freedom is a huge perk, entrepreneurship isn’t always easy. For Diandra, the hardest part is believing in herself—especially without a team or corporate structure offering benchmarks or deadlines.
That’s where her village comes in. From her husband and family to fellow female business owners, Diandra is grateful for the people who’ve picked her up (and even helped build her website!) along the way.
“It takes a village to raise a business. This is my baby.”
What’s Next?
Diandra recently rebranded her company to Diandra Medina, MFT & Associates and is preparing to bring on additional clinicians. This growth will allow her to reach more clients, reduce her personal caseload, and step further into the visionary role of her business.
She’s also launching group therapy offerings—a lower-barrier way for people to start their mental health journey in a supportive, community-driven setting.
Something You Might Not Know
One of the most powerful beliefs Diandra carries into her work is this:
Asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
Therapy is for anyone, at any time—not just during crisis. Whether you’re navigating trauma or just seeking growth, showing up for yourself is a radical, beautiful thing.
