Meet Geraldine Cabreros: From Nurse to Entrepreneur, Building Confidence Inside and Out

By Teresa Howes | Twine Featured Founder Interview

When Geraldine Cabreros reflects on her journey, it’s marked by grit, sacrifice, and a steady drive to create freedom for herself and her family. Today, she is the founder of Geraldine Aesthetics & Electrolysis and a licensed financial professional, running two businesses designed to help people feel more confident, both in their bodies and in their futures.

“I was slaving away for eight hours a day at a nursing job, missing holidays with my kids. I realized my job could replace me tomorrow, but my children would always remember I wasn’t there. That was my turning point.”

From Nursing to Entrepreneurship

Geraldine spent nine years in nursing, a path she describes as almost expected within her Filipino family. But while the work was steady, the schedule left little time for her children. Alongside her shifts, she started a side business in beauty services. First lashes and facials, then eventually electrolysis.

Her path wasn’t easy. The only accredited electrology school was in Corona, 90 minutes away. To make it work, Geraldine made great sacrifices to commute and care for her family, all while holding down her nursing job.

“I did that on and off for about two and a half months. It was hard, but once you make a big sacrifice, that’s when opportunities start showing up. That grind blossomed into Geraldine Aesthetics.”

Discovering a Second Calling

While growing her electrolysis practice, Geraldine knew she also needed a better plan for her family’s future. Through her beauty mentor, she was introduced to a financial professional who encouraged her to get licensed herself. That connection opened the door to an entirely new path.

“I saw the value of financial education. My parents worked hard, but no one ever taught us about investing. I wanted to break that cycle. For my kids and for other families.”

Today, Geraldine not only helps clients remove unwanted hair permanently, she also empowers families with financial knowledge. Her educational approach demystifies money and helps people understand their independence number, offering free financial plans that turn financial literacy into confidence.

What Freedom Means

For Geraldine, freedom isn’t about working less. It’s about working on her own terms, with her kids at the center. She has built her schedule around non-negotiables like Sundays reserved for family and Saturday evenings with her children, knowing that business growth only matters if it supports the life she set out to create.

“My favorite part of being a business owner is seeing how far I’ve come and being an inspiration to other women. Especially single moms. If I can do it, they can too.”

She acknowledges the challenge of balancing ambition with boundaries but sees her kids as both her anchor and her motivation to stay grounded.

“Kids shouldn’t be the reason you stop pursuing your goals. They should be the reason you do it.”

The Role of Mentorship and Community

Geraldine credits mentorship as a turning point in both of her businesses. Her beauty mentor gave her confidence in marketing, branding, and social media, while her financial mentor provided guidance and accountability as she expanded into her second venture. Both were relatable, accessible, and aligned with her values, which made their support especially impactful.

“My beauty mentor was a single mom and a nurse too. I saw myself in her. Her mentorship gave me the push to quit nursing for good.”

Beyond one-on-one mentors, Geraldine emphasizes the value of community groups like Twine. Brainstorming with other purpose-driven women gives her perspective, encouragement, and practical advice. She describes it as having a circle of peers who understand both the struggles and the triumphs of building something meaningful.

What’s Next

With her electrolysis business booked two months in advance, Geraldine is preparing to hire her first employee so she can step into a more strategic role. She’s also weaving her two businesses together, offering free financial plans to her electrolysis clients as a way to build both physical and financial confidence.

“I want women to know that just because you’re a mom doesn’t mean you stop being who you were meant to be. Your kids should be the reason you do it. Not the reason you don’t.”

Looking ahead, Geraldine envisions her businesses not just as sources of income but as platforms to inspire. Her story is already motivating other women, especially single mothers, to see what’s possible when you bet on yourself and trust your gut.
